Okay, Choaties...are you ready to WHORROR!!!

Here's the deal. Come to this thread and ramble and praise and blather over someone you think is the most awesome-ist writer in horror today!

Mutual ho-haa yanking rituals are fine- I love Best Buddy A! Well, I love you too, Best Buddy B!- and of course we'd never deny egotistical weiners voting for themselves in pure whorror fashion.

But I'm talking about taking time to pitch us on a talent you absolutely love reading. Sell us. Make us want to hit the internet or book stores to see what this person is all about...even if they're Stephen King.

(If you have more than one person you wish to rave about, just do a separate posting later)

Let the praising begin!   cheers

If I'm to be honest, the writer who knocked my socks farthest off recently was Mr. Rio Youers.

Oh don't just list names and links, people.

GUSH!

Do that big time Hollywood pitch on why this writer kicks ass above all the others! Sell us. Make pretend we refuse to listen to a word you say and we couldn't care less who you named.

Or better yet, be like their agent. Huge meeting with a major publisher for a 5 book deal. Why would we choose your guy?

Now whorror! Whorror like the wind!

There is a reason I asked Jeff Parish to be New Bedlam's one and only non-Canadian member of staff. It's the things he comes up with in his head that freak me out, that go too far, that just push the wrong button too many times... He gave me the creeps the first time I read one of his shorts in the slush pile at 'themagazineIrefusetoname,' and I asked him for more. He gave it to me, absolutely. His story in Courting Morpheus makes me worry for his sanity, and sparked my obsessive need to have at least 10 100 watt lightbulbs on hand at all times.

King's shitweasels were bad enough, but at least they left. Jeff's little creations hang around and pick at you. Constantly. And if it isn't them, it's the damn shadows. Or the kids. Or...

Jeff's just not right, and ya gotta love it.

Some day soon, Jeff's gonna be big.

Anyone ever read any James A Moore?

I've bought a couple of his books lately and dig the guy's style. And he loves the old school horror, which is my guilty pleasure.

Anyone? Anyone?

I'm just reading his Possession... but that's like, three pages at a time in between everything else. I'm liking it so far, though. Smiley

Got to give some Choate lovings to one of my favorites, HARRY SHANNON.

I just went back and reread his novel Daemon , he has his new collection out- which is called Host of Shadows. There's a story in there called Night Nurse that is awesome horror. AND I just heard he's re-releasing his classic Wolfman story soon. I do love me a good Wolfman story.

If you haven't read any of Harry's stuff, stop punishing yourself. His books are a high speed ride thru Ohfuckville. He loves his classic monsters and puts them into modern settings beautifully.

Hit his site or google the man. Pick up one of his books and you're going to get hooked on everything else he has. He's one of our more underrated long time writers.
